Beautiful vintage 1940s or 1950s brass bib necklace, with coral and turquoise beads. The style and colours are reminiscent of Egyptian revival jewellery, inspired by the popularity of Hollywood films such as Cleopatra, or Biblical epics. The fastening on the necklace is a hook and eye clasp. A visually striking necklace and a piece to treasure. The necklace is incredibly intricate with many strands and beads, it would have taken a lot of time to construct this statement piece! From research this necklace bears a strong resemblance to Onnig of Cairo pieces, made in Egypt. However I don't know the provenance of this item as I purchased it from a vintage seller many years ago so this is a best guess. In excellent condition, sold as vintage. Some of the spheres at the bottom have slight damage - which can be seen in the photographs. I can see where one turquoise stone is missing, but it is not noticeable when worn as there are so many beads. This is reflected in the price.
